Yes. The browser calculator is free with no account required. The REST API has a free tier of 1,000 requests per month, also with no credit card required.

What methodology does the calculator use?

GLEC Framework v3.2 emission factors aligned with ISO 14083:2023. Every result shows the source and the data quality tier — primary, secondary (modelled), or default (sector average).

What does WTW vs TTW mean?

WTW is Well-to-Wheel — the total lifecycle emission including fuel production and combustion. TTW is Tank-to-Wheel — combustion only. WTT is Well-to-Tank — fuel production only. WTT plus TTW equals WTW. CSRD Scope 3 and GLEC both require WTW.

Does the result include radiative forcing for air cargo?

No. Air cargo factors are CO2-only. IPCC AR6 puts aviation's full climate impact at 1.7-3x the CO2 figure depending on altitude and contrail conditions, but the multiplier is methodologically unsettled. We report CO2 only and flag the radiative forcing question in the result metadata.

Methodology

All calculations use emission factors from the GLEC Framework v3.2 (Global Logistics Emissions Council), published by the Smart Freight Centre. The methodology is aligned with ISO 14083:2023 for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions from transport operations.

Results include Well-to-Wheel (WTW), Tank-to-Wheel (TTW), and Well-to-Tank (WTT) breakdowns. Distance calculations use routing data where available, with great-circle distance as a fallback.
